A rear roller helps provide a traditional striped finish which leaves lawns looking beautifully maintained. This option also allows you to mow right up to the edge of flowerbeds and borders as the rear roller supports the lawnmower when the front wheels are inline with the border. These lawnmowers tend to be slightly heavier than the 4 wheeled models as the rear roller is generally made from a high quality steel which can be rather heavy - if you choose a self propelled engine then this can make the task of mowing your lawn much easier as it takes all the back work out of pushing the lawnmower.
