The new range of Stihl chainsaws are soon to be released for the 2020 season, but for a sneaky preview read on…
One which we here in the World of Power office are looking forward to seeing is the GTA 26 handheld garden pruner, this is a new product within the AS cordless system and is ideal for pruning trees, shrubs and cutting firewood with its 4” cutting bar length and with a protective hood above the bar to allow added safety during use. Weighing only 1.2kg this is sold with a 10.8v battery and charger included as standard, all within in its own stylish and protective carry bag.
The Stihl MS 150 has been replaced by the new MS151C-E which offers a higher power output, still supplied on a 10” or 12” bar, this is lightest chainsaw within the Stihl range weighing in at just 2.8kg! An excellent choice for pruning and can be combined with a Stihl sprocket, chain and carving bar for tree carving. Also made in the top handle version, the MS151TC-E is Stihl’s lightest arborist chainsaw and offering the benefit of 10% more power and 15% more torque than the MS150T-CE.
Available now the MS194T arborist saw is also new for 2020, ideal for crown maintenance , dead wood and branch removal while working among tree branches. With new design piston, cylinder and exhaust providing improved cutting performance. Please be aware that we need to see your competency certificates prior to purchase of any top handle/arborist chainsaw.
For professional users, the new MS400C-M is the world’s first chainsaw with a magnesium piston giving excellent power to weight ratio. This is ideally recommended on an 18” bar for optimum performance, but will also be available on a 16” and 20” bar. At 5.8kg, offering a 4.kw power output and running on a 3/8 chain the professional chainsaw should meet the heavy demands needed for full time use.
The new ‘Light 04’ bar is also featured for the first time in the 2020 range of chainsaw accessories. Allowing the user to benefit from improved balance and less fatigue during use, and due to the bars slim contour can mean a weight reduction of up to 200g against current guide bars. This is available to use on the Stihl MS261 and MS271 models.
When working with a chainsaw we always highly stress the importance of ensuring correct PPE is worn. Alongside many existing products, Stihl have introduced the new 360 all round leg protection CHAPS, and 360 MS PROTECT CHAPS in HiViz for leg protection, and the Advance X-Vent BT helmet which should be available from Spring and will be included on the World of Power website when available to order.
