What is XGT?
The newest battery range from Makita, the XGT system has a range of garden machinery, power tools and accessories. A combination of innovative tool design and a higher output of batteries to provide a solution to the needs of construction, industry, horticulture and other professional needs.
The Makita XGT range delivers 40 volts which is twice as powerful as the 18v batteries from the LXT range and offers more functionalities than the LXT batteries.
Designed to be highly durable with a waterproof triple layer structure these tools have a heavy duty outer casing and cell holder for improved shock resistance making them more robust for heavy duty use. Resistant to both dust and water, these tools are specifically designed to be used in the harshest of conditions.
The XGT range of batteries and tools have a built in programme which provides digital communication between the battery and tool, this revolutionary technology ensures the battery and tool’s motor technology work together for optimum performance. XGT Garden Machinery
The garden machinery range or OPE (Outdoor Power Equipment) as it’s known in the industry was launched in 2020, this range was designed and manufactured to replace the petrol garden machinery range which is now no longer being manufactured by Makita UK. This range of tools will not only perform the same as petrol machines, giving you all the power, you would expect from its petrol counterpart, you will also receive added benefits including lower noise levels, no mixing or storing fuels and no harmful emissions thanks to the battery technology.

IPX4 rated with a triple layer waterproofing making it shower and splash proof this range is ideal for work outside in unpredictable weather or on pipework / plumbing systems. By removing the power cables there is no trip hazard making it safer for both the user and those around them, there is no cable in the way whilst working and work is completed much quicker, simpler and quieter!
XGT Charging
Supported by a fast-charging system which sees the 2.5Ah battery fully charged in just 28 minutes whilst the 4.0Ah battery takes a mere 45 minutes. Batteries are equipped with a 4 LED light fuel gauge indicator so its easy to see when your battery requires charging. An adaptor can be purchased for the XGT battery charger which will allow the charging of both the LXT range and the XGT range from the one unit (please not the LXT tools / batteries and the XGT tools / batteries are NOT compatible). The two ranges have been designed to work along side one another to ensure all jobs can be complete with the Makita range of cordless tools / garden machinery.
