It’s that time of year the clocks have gone back, the mornings & evenings are darker, and it is getting a lot colder and trust us, in Buxton it gets COLD and boy are we feeling it here at World of Power HQ.
In this current climate we are all trying to find the best and most cost-effective ways to keep warm, whether that be within our homes, workplaces, workshops, or garages. Which is why we want to help you make the best decision when it comes to choosing your source of heat!
But first, the most important job is to make sure you choose the right heater which will provide you with enough heat output and warm up your desired space. To do this there are a few little pieces of information you need to gather to ensure you purchase the correct product.
Depending on the area you wish to heat, you need to know the following information:
- Desired temperature increase
- Approximate square footage of area to heat
- Ceiling height
- Insulation type
- Is it for Indoor/ Outdoor Use?
Once you have this data, you can then input it into a BTU calculator, this will generate the minimum BTU / Watt heat output required for warming the desired space.
Here at World of Power we only stock the best and top brands, such as SEALEY and SIP with lots of different types of heaters to choose from including Electric- Fan & Infrared, Gas Space Heaters- Propane / Paraffin & Diesel and Outdoor Patio Heaters. Once you have decided on your power source, we are confident you are sure to find a heater to suit your needs.
Let’s start with Electric Fan Heaters, these are great for heating small to medium sized rooms or if you need a more direct heat source. Lightweight and portable these types of heaters can be easily moved around and most can be plugged into a domestic 230v (13amp) socket. One of our most popular fan heaters is the SIP Fireball Turbofan 3000, offering up to 10,200 BTU / 3kW heat output with 2 heat settings, this little heater really packs a punch. It can also be used as a fan during the summer months by just not turning the heating element on.
For something a little more industrial SEALEY have the PEH5001 or PEH9001 3-Phase (400amp) fan heaters offering up to 5000W and 9000W respectfully, however we must advise that 3-Phase / 16amp heaters require a special power port which needs to be installed by a qualified technician. The 5 pin round plugs will not run from a domestic household 230v mains supply.
Electric fan heaters also have the added bonus of no fumes or smelly odours, and most are designed with thermostatic controls to allow you to have full control over the temperature settings.

Next, we move onto Infrared and Halogen heaters, these types of heaters are perfect for a range of different applications, designed to be versatile and energy efficient.
Halogen heaters are usually used as outdoor heating but can also be used to heat garages and workshops. Halogen lamps generate a high level of heat and brightness, often used in mobile heaters as are they are lightweight and portable. They provide quick and instant heat as soon as they are switched on. Effective to heat a small working area, this reduces the amount of energy the heater will consume. This also makes them environmentally friendly as there is no carbon monoxide emissions or smoke released.
However, halogen and infrared quartz heaters are not ideal for space heating as they only heat specific target areas, so if a person is to move away from the area, they may not feel the benefit of the heat.
The SIP 09587 Universal Hanging Halogen Heater is one of our most popular heaters, this adaptable model can be positioned almost anywhere thanks to the stainless-steel hanging chain, conveniently operated with a remote control. Perfect for hanging above workstations within garages and workshops, its can even be used to heat outside patio areas due to its IP44 rating, meaning it is waterproof and safe to use outdoors.

Gas Space Heaters are an incredibly cost-effective method of heating larger spaces, sold in various sizes, you are sure to find a heater to suit your needs and budget.
Here you will find a range of Gas heaters with various features from lightweight and portable models to more permanent fixtures with a selection of different fuel options. These models are ideal for heating larger workshops and warehouses, and it is essential to remember to calculate your minimum BTU requirement to ensure your chosen heater is up to the job!
SIP offer their immensely popular range of Fireball Propane Gas Heaters, these mostly corded models run off a domestic 13amp supply to power the motor in the fan but use propane gas as their heat source. These models are economical to run and efficient on fuel consumption, offering excellent performance and quality whilst being great value for money.
If you are limited on power source then SIP and SEALEY both offer cordless battery-operated Propane Heaters, The Fireball 515 Cordless model from SIP will heat up to 345m³ with a 51,182BTU/hr heat output and run for approximately 8 hours. This compact and lightweight heater is ideal for workshop or on-site jobs and can easily be recharged by the 230v (13A) charger.
The SEALEY LP69C Cordless Space Heater Kit comes supplied with a 4ah lithium-ion battery and 20V charger, a fan assisted portable gas heater which allows you the freedom to heat any area required without an electricity supply, quiet and odour free with a piezo-electric ignition system. Offers a heat output of 30,000-68,000Btu/hr and is suitable for heating areas up to 350m³.
If you require a heat source for use in well ventilated workshops, building sites or large warehouses, then Paraffin and Diesel Space Heaters would be the best option for you as they produce more heat than other fuels. Designed with additional safety features such as automatic flame-out sensors, which ensures that the fuel supply is cut off should the flame become accidentally extinguished and limits fuel leakage.
We only stock premium paraffin and diesel heaters from our trusted brands and we have plenty of high-quality products for you to choose from, including wheel-based units to allow for complete manoeuvrability and easy portability with robust tyres for all types of terrains. Developed with large fuel tanks to allow for longer run times, built in thermostats for full control of the heat increase and heavy-duty combustion chambers for efficient fuel burning.
The SEALEY AB350 Space Heater has been designed with a pump system that can operate with either kerosene or diesel and will provide continuous heat and cleaner burning for up to 8-14 hours on a single tank of fuel when heating an area up to 8,800ft³ (250m³).
Another one of our popular models is the SIP Fireball 175XD Diesel Space Heater a wheel mounted design with pneumatic tyres, built in thermostat with digital read out and can heat areas up to 1230m³ with a 175,000BTU output making this model excellent value for money.
