TOP TIPS
Here are some top tips for logging safety, when using a chainsaw first thing we would advise is the protection to you. It’s very important that you have the correct protective clothing such as chainsaw trousers, gloves, eye protection, ear protection and foot protection. You can find all the safety gear we sell on the following link. The chainsaw trousers are specially designed with high tech fibres that are long and thin and are cut resistant so when the chainsaw comes into contact with these the chainsaw teeth rip out the long, tough fibres which wrap themselves around the chainsaw drive in a matter of milliseconds and stop the machine immediately. Unlike if you were wearing an old pair of jeans the outcome would be very different.
Now you are all hooked up with the gear let’s get logging. If you are sawing from a trunk on the ground we would advise to cut this down into more manageable pieces but laying out the trunk and measuring 1 meter chunks. You can do this with marker spray before you start to cut make sure the log is secure and wont roll away you can always use smaller pieces of wood to secure this in place. Start your saw as per the instructions from the manual and saw each marked area ¾ way through so you prevent sawing into the ground as this will blunt the chain. Roll the truck over by hand or a felling lever and secure the log in place. Now saw through the remaining sections and this will now make the log more manageable.
You can now move the piece son to a saw horse or continue to cut them on the ground if secure to do so.
On all our machines we offer a service called PDI this is a pre delivery inspection. This means our in house technician will unpack the machine and check this over for any damage. He will also run up the machine and test this to make sure that the machine is in working order before you receive this. We do all the hard work so you don't have to, best of all we do this Free of Charge on most models.
